Therapy Designed to Provide Answers and Reduce Pain
Finding the underlying cause of any type of emotional disturbance can relieve emotional and psychic pain through the process of psychotherapy or ‘talk therapy’. The primary focus of my Practice is to offer support to those who have experienced trauma which has not been fully resolved and is preventing them from living their best life. Whether your trauma is related to painful childhood events or a single devastating event, I can work with you to reprocess the memories that continue to cause pain and distress.
The primary method of treatment of my clinic is Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), which is appropriate for a wide range of mental health disorders. What are the advantages of EMDR over other treatment approaches? The reasons are clear:
-
Treatment is focussed on the symptoms and conducted in session
-
EMDR has comparable results to that of other trauma treatments such as exposure therapy, but over a much shorter time frame
-
Studies have shown that 77-90% of clients with PTSD were able to eliminate their symptoms after 3-7 sessions of EMDR (without homework)
-
Better tolerated by clients than exposure therapy
-
Clients do not have to talk in detail about their trauma
In addition to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (CPTSD), EMDR has also been successfully used as a highly effective treatment in the management of:
-
Disturbing memories
-
Depression & Anxiety
-
Stress Reduction
-
Panic attacks
-
Complicated grief
-
Dissociative disorder
-
Sexual or physical abuse
Again, please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information about the benefits and process of EMDR.

About Caroline
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with a Master of Rehabilitation Counselling. I have extensive training in the use of EMDR as noted above, and a Full Member of the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA) https://emdraa.org/emdr-faq/
I am also well versed in the use of the Structural Dissociation model for the treatment of complex trauma-related disorders. I have many years of experience working with a wide range of mental health disorders including mood disorders (depression and anxiety), schizo-effective disorders, PTSD, personality disorders and attachment disorders.
Psychotherapy is extremely helpful for a single issue, although people often come to therapy for a combination of things that all seem to be happening at once. Together, we can work through all of these things until all the pieces start fitting together. In addition to the areas mentioned above under Therapeutic Approach, I welcome clients who need support in the following areas:
-
Marital and relationship conflict
-
Grief and loss
-
Matters relating to workplace injury, particular psychological injury sustained at work
-
I also have extensive experience in geriatric mental health therapy (issues of ageing)
-
Substance abuse disorders
